Family Manna
From The Boat Christian Ministry Desk
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 KJV
Courage For Living
Overcoming storms…
And they came to him and awoke him, saying, master, master, we perish. Then he arose & rebuked the wind and the raging of the water and they ceased and there was a calm" Luke 8:24 KJV.
I was in a storm last year (a real winter storm) and for the first time, I could understand the disciples heart cry - master, master, careth thou not that we perish?
Storms in life happen for different reasons.
- Some storms are to prove us.
- Some storms are to prune us.
-All storms demonstrate God's sovereignty.
- Sometimes, God doesn't reveal the reason for the storm.
- Some storms are to slow us down (moments of reflection).
God, what are you saying through my storm?
In my case there were 3 things I needed to do that day.
*Check the weather forecast and believe it. I didn't really believe that magnitude of storm could hit, so I ventured out. Isn't that like some of us; You checked the bible, God gave you an instruction, God gave you a word but you didn't believe so you ventured out.
*When I ventured out and I saw the storm raging, I honestly thought I could make it. I was worried about work. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:33: A prudent man forseeth evil and hideth himself: But the simple pass on and are punished. Always remember, you can always go back especially when you realize you are in danger.
*Final crux: I needed to make haste and return or decide to wait for the next day. I did neither so I was caught up in the storm all night for 10 hours.
Some of us are in the valley of indecision. You're just always on the fence - neither here nor there; neither cold nor hot. It's such a dangerous place to be.
Remember, not all storms are your doing.
What do you do when you're in a storm?
*Cry out to God.
When you read the account of Mark chapter 4: KJV. The disciples cried out. In moments of fear, panic, anguish, uncertainty, joy, peace, fruitfulness - let our cry always be first to God.
*Sleep during the storm
"And Jesus was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow" Mark 4:38 KJV .
Can you believe that in the same storm, someone was sleeping and another person was frantic. God wants us to grow into His likeness everyday.
After you have prayed and put your hope and trust in God, let your soul be at peace and at rest. That kind of state can only be achieved with full confidence in God.
* Speak to the storm
Verse 39. And he arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, peace be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.Speak to your storm. You have authority in Jesus name.
Remember, there is a promise of a great calm at the end of every storm if you believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus can calm every storm Just ask him.
Truth For Family
Jesus Christ is truth personified. The truth is the word of God, which is the bible, and Jesus christ exemplifies the truth during his time on earth.
This we found in his relationship with his disciples and everyone around him.
The Waiting Room
We are in an age where patience is no longer considered a virtue. Men see patience as a risk, and a decision to seek the easiest way out is on the rise each day.
If the Patriachs of old times wait, then we are no difference. It's an age of instant food, instant message, instant medication, instant choice. Let me tell you that God is not instant, as we imagine. He is a Spirit. He is a King and we his creatures must learn to wait. He that believe in God does not make haste.
Pause & Pray
As water is to our body, so also is prayer to our soul. We must pray at all times. This is the shape of our lives as humans made by God.
Sacrifices such as charity, donations, gifts, and worship are excellent. If less emphasis is given to prayers, then our works on earth are vain in Gods sight.
As Christ modeled prayer to his holy apostles before, during and after his ascension, our life must be a life of prayer if we must fulfill his mandate on earth and interface with God.
Relationship Nugget
Our intimacy with God and the Holy Spirit should inform our association and choice. For we walk by faith, not by sight. II Corin 5:7 (KJV) So then, if we claim the faith of Jesus Christ, then his light should guide and lead us to the truth.
Truth is found in Jesus Christ, and in truth should our decisions and choices be made. Truth is found by faith in Jesus Christ, but true is found by sight by will of man.
The Valiant Man
A valiant man is someone who is a reflection of the image of God. Absolutely surrendered to God and genuinely born again. He is led by the spirit of God through God's Word, subject to God's authority, Does the will of God, obey God's word at all time.
The Virtuous Woman
A virtuous woman is someone who receives insights through the light of God, embrace Gods wisdom, and willing to fulfill the whole counsel of God through submission. There is another kind of woman that lacks substance and grace whose wisdom is of the world. which one are you?
The former retains alignment and fulfills God purpose while the latter will end up with earthly gains and frustrations. Building a home requires Godly skills, which are revelations from God almighty alone.
